Random Gambling

In a random parking lot
by Smoo

On Wednesday Mil'vardea and I were sitting in my living room bored after our plans evaporated. So we watched some TV, giggled a bit, and then I thought to myself "self, we should do something awesome".

"Hey, why don't we get the card table out of the garage, set it up in the back of my truck and go wait for Blackbeard to get off work?" At first it sounded strange, but then the idea started to grow on us. We decided that it would be awesome fun to play a game and try to attract a few other people to it, so we got a deck of cards, the table, a random folding chair (you can't play cards without one) and for some reason a candle that was sitting on a table near the door in my house.

We arrived at Blackbeard's place of employ and set the table up in the bed of my truck, lit the candle, and started with a few hands of gin rummy. Mil'vardea cleaned me out every game >_< In the midst of our third hand we got our first curious passerby, who turned out to be a waitress with Blackbeard. She climbed into bed with us and we played a few games of Blackjack while she waited for her friends. At this point we wanted to make things interesting and Mil'vardea taught us how to play Texas hold 'em and it was great fun! Then, unfortunately, our waitress' friends called and she left to go to a bar with them.

Next to speak to us was a random AAA dood who thought we called him for help with a flat tire O_o Oh well, guess lots of people play cards while waiting for a tow

Canada called us and we invited her to join the game, so she drove out to meet us as well. I got the loose change out of my truck to use a poker chips and we started playing 5 card draw with a penny buy in (but the money is mine you dirty rats! give it back later!!). Blackbeard finally got off work and wandered out the door in a sea of co-waitstaff and fry cooks who all wanted to see what the hell we were doing. Most of them politely giggled and left, but beardy and his buddy Dyl decided to join us.

The five of us played merrily, slightly concerned that cops would arrest us all for loitering and gambling, but having a great time anyhow. I don't know when we'll be doing this again, but it was fun enough that one day the gambling truck bed party will ride once more.

Down the River

And Up the Creek
by Mil'vardea

We decided to go down to the river, and take a whole bunch of random pictures. This is what we came up with:

A Witness to History in the Making

Though, Most People Won't Get It
by Mil'vardea

I witnessed history in the making on Sunday, May 24th, 2009. My favorite AIHL team, the Winchester Generals, finally won their first game! Like ever, in the history of the team, ever.

My brother came down for the weekend from Winchester, to visit us, and the team came down too, to play against the Raleigh Dragons, the Richmond Rollin' Robins, and one of the teams from Maryland.

My brother and I decided to go to a couple of games on Sunday, and say hi to the guys. My brother plays hockey with some of the guys on a Sunday Night league. I got to see some of the guys, and it was awesome.

After the game, you would have thought they'd won the Cup. One of the defenseman's fathers was sitting on the bleachers with us, and I remember him saying so. "It's a bit more like the Styrofoam Cup," he said, laughing.

We congratulated some of the team members afterward, and my brother mentioned that he thought the team was playing much better. "Yeah, we did. We just stopped passing the puck to the other team."

Congrats, Winchester Generals. We love you.

I still want one of your jerseys. And not the highlighter ones.

Something I'd Forgotten to Post

It's been awhile, but I'll try to set the scene for you.
by Mil'vardea

You know those crazy kids who spend hours or days without bathing, standing in wait for a huge, geeky movie to come out, like all those nerds who slept outside and forsaked bathing and normal socializing to catch a bit of "George Lucas' table scraps" when the Star Wars movies came out?

Yeah, I kind of felt like that.

I was passing a conversation between goth kids at the mall, and I heard the words "Twilight," "Movie," "Theaters," "Soon," and "Vampires" all in the same sentence, which made my ears perk up. I had no clue what Twilight was, but I was going to see that damn movie, because I freakin' love a good vampire movie. I was thinking, from the teaser trailer I went home and looked up that the movie would be along the same storyline as an Underworld movie or some such.

Sounded good. In passing, I mentioned, months before the movie even thought of hitting theaters, that if Smoo went to go see Twilight with me, I would see Quantum of Solace with him. In all fairness, it was a good exchange; I hate Bond movies, and he hates... everything else, so we would get to see the movies we wanted to see, but wouldn't have to go by ourselves, like the huge friggin' nerd kids that we are.

I managed to talk myself out of getting dressed up like Dracula for the movie, but I was excited; I had not seen anymore trailers or anything to ruin my preconceived notions about the nature of the movie. I was as pure as snow stepping into the theater, and came out a changed person.

I think I am the only human being on the planet that is not a tweenaged or teenaged, love-sick, overly-romantic fangirl that actually enjoyed the movie.

Our totals for seeing this movie in theaters are as follows:
Canada: 7 times
Smoo: 6 times
Irish Cream: twice
Buzz: once
Sister: once
Mil'vardea: 8 times
Black Beard: zero, and damn proud of the fact

Our love for Twilight was, not for the romance (which was about as deep and mysterious as a puddle), nor the supposed "hotness" of Robert Pattison (which I, frankly, don't get; his looks do not appeal to me), but from the hilarity that ensued.

I don't think I've ever laughed through a whole movie that was not a comedy before.

The only thing I've ever seen that was funnier, were all the Twilight haters making fun of the movie on Youtube, such as Evil Iguana, Angry Aliens, and this little gem which you have to watch all the way through, to get how funny it really is.

Irish Cream, Buzz, Canada, and I decided to read the books. We mostly got through them, but Canada's finals have interrupted her reading, so she is not done. But we decided, like the nerdy fans that we are, to go to Walmart at midnight and buy the DVD, where we happily ate cake with Kristen Stewart's face on it, bought the DVD, and made fun of the girls with "Team Edward" written across their boobs.

All in all, this little obsession made us disproportionately happy, and I wanted to share our supidity with you.

Cars! Cars!!!1

Racing is Usually Dangerous, but Not This Time
by Mil'vardea

Tonight, in a display of true brilliance, Black Beard said we should go to PuttPutt and race the go-karts. Six dollars later, Black Beard, Smoo, and I were strapped in and ready to ride.

I was nervous as hell. The kids working there didn't help much either; as he revved up my lawn-mower-engined kart, he caught a ride on the back bumper of my car, going out to check on someone's car that had faltered, crashing into a wall at awesome speeds (about 16 miles per hour, tops). I think rule number one before they let us have at it was "these aren't bumper cars," a ruled which was steadfastly ignored as we imitated Mike Wallace's cousin in those auto insurance commercials and "put 'em into the wall."

So funny! However, they only allow you to ride for, like, seven minutes, so we just had to go twice, just to make a night of it. After a few rounds, and everyone getting sick of my maniacal laughing, we retired to the arcade, where we battled on the DDR pads and laughed about Lonely Island and that stupid song that always gets stuck in my head, the one with T-Pain about the boat. Then we went home and watched the South Park episode about the gay fish. Hilarious.

Lalalalalaa Bumba!

Island Themed!
by Mil'vardea

What a party!

In an attempt to once again bring the crew together for a grandiose night of good, clean fun, Smoo and I gathered some silly decorations from such fine retailers as Goodwill, Walmart, the Dollar Store, and Big Lots. The Island theme kind of exploded all over Smoo's living room, and we hula'd until the cows came home.

Not really, but there were quite a few decorations. We sent out some very cool invites via e-mail (we're so technologically advanced). Then Smoo and I decorated the hell out of his living room, with everything from grass skirts, to ugly Mexican fertility statues carved out of coconuts, to netting with fishes caught in it, to leis and glowy little lantern lights. We started cooking and decorating around 3:30PM, and had everything up and ready by 6:30PM, giving us a little time to rest before people began showing up at 7PM. As for food, we made some yummy sugar cookies with colored sugar sprinkled on them, then they were doubled up with icing in the middle (sugar rush!). We also ordered a few pizzas, and had some yummy punch, made with a can of pineapples (and the juice), a bottle of fruit punch, and a bottle of sprite. We also had cheesy flavored Munchies, chips and salsa, and fun!

While we waited around for everyone to get there, we ordered pizzas and watched the Pirate Song on YouTube (cause pirates go along with the island theme). Then we tried to make an Admiral Akbar Mii on Smoo's Wii, (Dean finally succeeded), then we played a game of Quelf, played some MadLibs, which was hilarious, and just hung out together.

The party, overall, was a success!

Smoo here, I'm throwing up some videos I took on my cell phone of the Quelf game we played. This is the most awesome party game ever (that doesn't involve alcohol or twister).

His thumbs are dragons and are fighting to the death!! Sound effects and epic music required.

There is a tornado coming, everyone gtfo!! She got to move an extra space for everyone who listened (which we all did, and hid in my room).

The Distance Was Quantifiably Smaller

But Our Original Plan Was a Bit Over and Above Our Budget
by Mil'vardea

Our goal: Buy Flyers tickets and make it safely to Philadelphia and back for a game.

We successfully bought the tickets; this was nearly a month ago now. We decided the March 12th home game Philadelphia Flyers against the Washington Capitals would be appropriate, considering Smoo is a Caps fan (why? Seriously? Man-crushing on Ovie much?).

After I convinced him that wearing a Caps anything into Philadelphia would be a bad idea, we bought the tickets, rearranged our schedules, took off work (well, Canada and I had too; Smoo's job at xkcd is chill).

March 11th: The weather was warm for March, but we thought if it would hold out for the game, it would make the experience all the better. Nice weather = Nice driving conditions. I got my nails done and my things packed, ready for a pretty day of driving, camaraderie, and NHL hockey.

March 12th: The weather changes abruptly, plummeting down twenty degrees in less then 24 hours, making the skies overcast and the air a windy 25 degrees. We leave for the game around 11AM, giving us plenty of time to make it to the game, or so we thought. We made it just in time, magically turning a four-and-a-half hour drive into a seven or so hour drive. Jeebs. Four thirty saw us at Passyunk and 9th, where everyone who ever wanted a cheesesteak (and not a mis-steak) goes (Pat's, for anyone who has never been in Philly).

We got to the game a little early and missed all the human traffic into the Wachovia Center. I even had time to say goodbye to the Spectrum before the game. The game itself was disappointing, for me at least, we lost 1-2 to the Caps; however, it was worth the trip. I don't think I've ever had that much fun ever.

We're Off to See the Wizard

The Wonderful Wizard of Guns
by Mil'vardea

Today was fantastic! I finally had a day off where I wasn't sick or at an artshow, so Smoo, Black Beard, IrishCream, and I decided to go to the gun range.

Several hundred rounds later (I shot almost 150 rounds just by myself with my .22), we left the gun range giggling and happy, and stepped out into the parking lot, where IrishCream chased after the alley cats and screamed "Here kitty, kitty, kitty!" The day was a success; the two boys and I had some good fun and IrishCream felt safer I think, for having learned to shoot. A great day all around; here's to the gun range! Enjoy our videos!

I Just Love Pretty Pictures

I think only mudwrestling could be funner.
by Mil'vardea

I left our group to travel to D.C. for my Aunt's very first art show. She's been painting since before I was born, and is an extremely talented woman. But, despite the fact that I was out of town, I can't do anything without an entourage, so I invited my buddies from my college dorm days to join me on my little romp to NoVA.

Vienna, Virginia, if you've never been there, is a delightful little, and safe, town, right outside of the city, offering CEOs and other ritzy folks a retreat from the dangers and dirt of the city, without living too far from work (with a ritzy little price tag attached to all of those homes and apartments, let me tell you). This place is pretty, and probably one of the safest places within a 150 mile radius of Washington D.C. We had quite a time on the town.

Liz, my old college roomie, and her husband Matt, and another old college roomie, Jess, and I dressed to the nines (which is our books means wearing our new jeans instead of the holy ones, and something other than a t-shirt) and paraded gallantly through not only the artshow, but the spiffy little sushi restaurant downstairs. All-in-all, it was prettiest experiences of my life, and I enjoyed it throughly.

My aunt has her own website; check out her art for she is very talented: pamelabickford.com. The show was a success; my dad and my other aunt were among the people purchasing Glicees that evening. I think Aunt Pam also had a fantastic time; she was grinning ear to ear and was bouncy, which is cute as hell to watch. Like a kitten with a ball of yard, but smarter, and much much more talented.

I don't know why I even bother with these...

Maybe I'm the eternal optimist, but I truly doubt it.
by Mil'vardea

Farmers Life Insurance is celebrating its 100th anniversary, and has all of these silly little contests to motivate people to send them things. I usually don't fall for these, but I have a lot to thank them for all of the sudden. There is very little that gets me motivated these days; for some reason I feel tired all the time, but this little "dream" competition did.

Here's my entry:

Sunday nights are the hardest.

"Usually, considering how completely unassertive everyone in my entire group of friends is, it takes us a goodly amount of time just to decide what were going to do for the evening, much less getting there and doing whatever idiotic thing we’d planned. By the time our plans are in action on Sundays, most everything is closed, and our choices get narrowed down so much, we sometimes end up just watching a movie, or watching paint dry.

"On some occasions, we actually muster up enough creativity to find something to do, despite the lack of open entertainment around town, but for the most part, we end up using Sunday evenings to plan.

"Over the course of several years of Sunday nights, my eclectic group of friends has crafted blueprints for some of the craziest nights on the town, included everything from rolly-office-chair jousting, to giant camping trips, to epic Flash movies that may someday end up amusing millions on YouTube.

"But my favorite plan is one that has yet come to fruition: the Road Trip.

"The route has altered a little in the past few years, but the main theme of the trip remains the same; to see as much of the important parts of the continental US as we can manage in two weeks. We’ve included such necessary and epic escapades as stopping by Philly for a real cheesesteak from Pat’s, grabbing a slice of pizza from at least four different places inside NY city limits, to mooing at the first cow we see in Wisconsin, hanging over the Grand Canyon, watching the light-pollution-less sky over the Southern Cross, to mooing at the first cow we see in California.

"Armed with a couple thousand dollars for gasoline, we plan to take the country by storm, giving our group one last run together before jobs and things scatter us all over the country.

"This is our collective dream."

In the Interest of Time, this is Missing a Clever Title

I know it's been awhile
by Mil'vardea

Greetings! Sorry about the delay in new posts; we've been busy! Super busy!

Let me tell you about game night: We played Quelf, and we have some hilarious stories to tell. A good friend of ours, we'll call him "Christian" from here on out, had some awesome cards, all at the same time. One was that he had to keep his hands on top of his head for a whole round, then a rules card saying he could only pick things up with his pinky and thumb. Then the person to his left got a card that included him, and he had to write something, while keeping his hands above his head, and holding the pencil with just his pinky and thumb. L.O.L.

We also played epic Settlers of Catan, and I think you deserve some pictures of its epic-ness. We combined two Catan sets and played to 20 points; the game went on for two hours, and Canada won (she always wins). The game becomes very cutthroat when we play. It's freakin crazy, but awesome. We're going to have to connect some more sets and play even more epic Catan.

A few days ago, we actually went stargazing, laying down in the back of Smoo's truck with a star map and trying to figure out where everything was. We found some of the more "popular" ones easily, like Orion, and the big W, Cassiopeia. We managed to find some of the Zodiac symbols too, which was cool. Unfortunately, light pollution kept us from finding some of the constellations to the North of us, thick enough even to cover the North Star. But we still managed to have a great time.

On Wednesday, we had a Thanksgiving party together, playing Cranium, pool, and watching Mythbusters (I love that show). They were blowing up non-dairy creamer. LOL.

Hopefully, now that we're between holidays, we'll be able to all stay in town long enough to get some more stuff on the list. We'll see.

EDF!!!

God, We're Nerdy Sometimes...
by Mil'vardea

What do you get when you combine a bunch of nerds, an XBox360, EDF, Magic, and pizza?

We like to call it EDF night.

Lately, we've been having tons of fun game nights, ranging in games from Quelf, to Tanks for Wii, Settlers of Catan... All great fun, but no great things to write about. Unfortunately.

NaNoWriMo Update

It's November Again!
by Mil'vardea

We gathered yesterday for the beginning of NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). We discussed ideas over cheap diner food, wrote to Canada's folk music, and pondered over the secrets of the universe.

Each of our plots are kind of complex, but I will attempt to describe mine a little:

What if the Roman Empire had never fallen? How would it have kept it's power, and how could it have survived? It's a bit like a Big Brother sort of thing, where people are being controlled by this kind of government entity. I'm trying to track down a good English-to-Latin translator online, but I haven't found one quite yet.

Canada's plot is extremely complicated, but boils down to a soul has been reincarnated into two separate bodies, and there's a very powerful group of people who are looking to reclaim said soul and put it back together again.

Smoo decided to take a very old idea he had for a story, and is writing about a cute that someone invents for Alzheimer's. It helps to bring back memories lost. But the cure mutates peoples' minds, and they end up spreading their memories to others like a disease. It's almost like you could cough on someone or kiss someone and they would know your whole childhood.

I love their concepts; we're going to have some much fun with this this year! Good luck to everyone else who is Nano-ing!

Carve the Pumpkins and Shoot!

Big Sharp Knife Things and Guns
By Smoo and Mil'vardea

Today we are carving the wondrous pumpkins we procured last week at the pumpkin patch. BlackBeard, IrishCream, Mil'vardea, and myself got our pumpkins, some spoons, and our carving knives and sat down in Mil'vardea's driveway to begin out butchery. BlackBeard went with a traditional triangle eyed toothy mawed thing while the rest of us got more creative.

Mil'vardea set out to carve the Flyers logo onto hers by chipping away the top layer of rind from the pumpkin face, so that light will shine through from the inside (Mil'v also carved a Spongebob pumpkin, of him naked, covering himself. Lol.). My own looks like a normal pumpkin from the outside, but I carved an awesome arcane rune on the inside by scraping away the inner wall. When you stick some light inside it, the rune glows! IrishCream had a very cute kitty pumpkin! Well, it was a kitty-faced pumpkin. Black Beard carved a generic pumpkin face, and was going to go home later a carve a "secret" pumpkin (we all knew he was going to do a Gunther face though).

After a long day of pumpkin carving, we all disbanded for dinner (and class, for IrishCream) then gathered once again for an epic Nerf battle! It was Sister, Smoo, and Mil'vardea against IrishCream, Canada, and Black Beard. We set up huge "forts" made of blankets, furniture, pillows, and whatever else we could find. The battle raged around us, and we made mad rushes into No Man's Land for ammo, crawling around like idiots as our team provided cover fire. After an hour long battle, Black Beard was out for the count with a massive allergy attack, and we signed a peace treaty, celebrating our victory with an episode of South Park, a few pizzas and a round or Quelf, the best board game ever.

Tomorrow we're having a party at BlackBeard's house with a few out of town friends we haven't seen in a while, and its going to be freakin awesome with pumpkins like these.

Chair Jousting

Have at thee!
by Smoo

Have a jousting tournament!

Last night around 10 pm, we decided to finally try out luck at jousting. We've been floating different ideas on how to do it, from using cars with 10 foot iron rods to wheelchairs and crutches, but we settled on using two rolling office chairs from my house and a pair of boffers left over from goofing off at college. There can be only one champion!

Mil'vardea and I called one of our friends (lets call him 'Fro-mage' until we think up a good pseudonym) and asked him to join us and rope a fourth person into our antics. He agreed and we set out to the Local Preppy College to do battle in one of their parking lots. The night was freezing cold (literally) and a fell wind carried the stench of . . . frat boys, I think. Fro-mage arrived fashionably late with a strange girl he found on the internet and we started the joust.

Each team had two people. One person would sit on a backwards chair, so they had some protection offered by the back rest, while their partner pushed them forward. We got off to a rocky start with Fro-mage knocking his new friend over by pushing too hard, but we got the hang of going forward quickly. Steering was another issue however, as the first jousts ended with frantic near misses and collisions.

Eventually we mastered charging toward each other with our lances and spearing the opponent in the chest (or neck, or elbow, or groin, whatever happened to be in the way). It was awesome fun, though we forgot to keep score since its hard to judge who would have won each pass and it was nigh impossible to break a lance or unhorse each other. We plan to do this again with more people, more equal rolling chairs, and maybe rules as well.

Pumpkin Patch

Huge Gummy Snake!
by Smoo

Go to the Pumpkin patch and get pumpkins like we used to when we were kids!

So today we decided to go to the pumpkin patch and get some fall time decorations for our front yards. We drove for 45 minutes north of the city to a berry farm that offers a deal, all the pumpkins you can carry for $20.

After we arrived we explored a store set up in an old barn to see what they had laying around. Mostly it was filled with Christmas decorations and some Halloween things, but there was a putting green and a couple of cute little pigs (with a sign that said DO NOT PET : ( why have them in a small pen with a low fence if they aren't for petting!) off to one side. Then we found the glorious candy and a 4 foot gummy snake, which Mil'vardea and I got. The sugar from it is still making me all jittery.

We quested forth to find the hay ride over to the pumpkins, along with a few families with small children, who were all squealing with glee for some reason (the only folks at the pumpkin patch were us, an old lady, and the few families). We snapped a few pictures on our ride of the beautiful area around the farm and then got off the wagon to find our pumpkins. Almost immediately we heard one kid yelling "Oh my goodness!!" and falling down to hug one of them, which made us laugh. BlackBeard and IrishCream set off to the far end of the field while I meandered around looking near the front and Mil'vardea hunted for 'tiny cute ones'. Between the three of us we had a good haul, and chose the best of the crop for our nefarious purposes.

Then we loaded as many as possible onto BlackBeard, almost snapping his spine before he said that he couldn't hold anymore. We took our 7 large pumpkins and headed back, chatting with some of the other people on the hay ride about how buff BlackBeard is and what his rates should be for pumpkin lifting. BlackBeard held them all again, turning red and grunting like a stuck pig, took the required 3 steps, and we merrily loaded up his car with the loot and headed home. $20 is a bargain for these!

Shouting at Strangers is Dangerous

But None of Us Really Cared
by Mil'vardea

Take some hot chocolate in a thermos and sit around in a high traffic area and offer hot beverages to complete strangers.

We are very lucky that our local preppy college does seem to care who you are, where you're from, or whether or not you even attend the school. We have had great amounts of fun over the past few years on that campus.

Anyway, in a fit of bored genius, Black Beard, Smoo and I piled into Beard's car and tooled down to the campus, settling in a small corner around the lake called "The Island." It's a small landmass in the middle of the lake, connected to the mainland by two arching bridges and expanded by a giant gazebo almost the same size as the island itself. We sat around one of the little bench things they have there, with a thermos full of hot chocolate and chatted, waving at strangers and inviting them to join us.

We actually managed to succeed this time in getting strangers to reply to our antics.

We had one kid, about 19 years old, come over to join us. He seemed nice enough, so we waved him down and handed him some cocoa, and chatted him up. His name was "Hayes" and he was actually a friend of a friend of ours, and had attended the same high school as our very own Smoo.

IrishCream joined us right from work, driving over and filching of our very delicious hot chocolate, joining into our discussion over the flagrant inconsistencies in movie series, such as James Bond and Star Wars.

The night was beautiful, the stars were out, and we curled up together on the island's bank, huddled in Black Beard's sleeping bag, watching to world go by.

Bow Chicka Wow Wow

Camping in the Park Made For Some Silly Jokes
by Mil'vardea

Find a local park, and go camping for the night, sitting around the fire and eating a lot.

We got rained out Friday night, which is when we planned on going camping. So we planned to pick up where we left off on Saturday night, since none of us had to work. Everything was going as planned, the rain cleared up, we all had cleared our schedules, and even the clouds were dispersing. Everything was just a little too perfect, however.

Black Beard had asked for the whole weekend off, just in case it actually did rain (good think he did) but his manager scheduled him to work anyway, so he had to find a sub. Work now out of the way, we were just about ready to leave when Black Beard's sub called, saying he was now subbing for someone else, and good luck finding someone else.

God, what a loser.

Anyway, he was now getting off of work at nine o'clock. IrishCream, Smoo and I left without him, getting to the campsite around four to set up. We started a fire and got things going, and sat around lamenting our empty stomachs as the sun set. To amuse ourselves, we began star gazing (the clouds hadn't completely cleared up at this point, but you could see about half of the sky). We found shapes in the clouds, and watched the world go by.

The volume on this video is kind of low. Sorry.

For dinner, we recreated our fantastic beef and veggie kabobs (click here for the recipe). Black Beard finally showed up around 9:45 ish, and we got the party started, telling silly jokes, stupid stories and ending almost every sentence in the now-ubiquitous phrase "bow chicka wow wow." We've been watching WAY too much Red Vs. Blue. Yay Tucker!

After a long night and well into the morning, we retired to our tents. The weather was in the 40s, which wasn't toooooo bad, but I was still cold. Maybe I'm a wuss. Oh well.

In the morning, we cooked bacon and eggs, and had a gl orious sun-filled breakfast around the open flame. Exhausted but ecstatic, we retired to our individual houses and crashed, a pleasant and delicious weekend dancing like sugarplums around in our heads.

Epic Scavanger Hunt!

Really Epic!
by IrishCream

Have a giant, cell phone photo scavenger hunt around town.

Another one of our epic adventures happened yesterday. We all went on a photo scavenger hunt using our cell phones. Smoo and Black Beard were one team, and Mil'vardea and IrishCream(me) were on a team. Boys vs Girls. Granted we didn't find all of them, there was a hour and a half time limit.

Here's the list of the things we had to find:

A horse, A Giant Q, Buddah, Something Purple, Non-US Flag, Someone else's mom, 5ft Circle, Something on fire, A pattern up close, A Box 6" or less, Something sparkly, A hat with a college logo, Facial Piercing, Tattoo, A Kiss, A plant with no green, Someone with fake colored Hair, A motorcycle, A bug up close, A kid laughing, Running water, Weeping willow, Yellow Car, Uniform, Graffiti, Fire Hydrant, Sports logo on a car, A hott person, Fry on McDonalds floor, A mohawk, green lights, Roadkill, Reading the back of a cereal box, Fire Truck, Old Lady with a hat, Blue license plate, A guy on a lawnmower, Coke add, a girl applying make-up, someone walking 3 or more dogs, A Texas license plate, Crossing sign with a hula hoop, a pyramid with you and a random stranger, a license plate ending in 000, someone in a police car, someone serving food in a drive thru

The boys won by 13 totaling in 34 found, while the girls got 21 total.

Mil'vardea and IrishCream flirted with a UPS man to get his picture for the uniform one. He pulled up next to us and waved. We probably made his day!

We have yet to get the pictures uploaded to the computer. Pictures to come soon!

NaNoWriMo

We're Getting Really Good at Finding Things to Amuse Ourselves
by Mil'vardea

Compete in NaNoWriMo!

Since 2005, I have been participating in a yearly marathon of words, called NaNoWriMo (NAtional NOvel WRIting MOnth, thus NaNoWriMo, pronounced "Nano Rai-Moe"). The idea is to write a novel, or some of a novel, over the course of the month of November. To win, you must write 50,000 words between November 1st at midnight and midnight December 1st. I must be some kind of masochist to subject myself to this every year. However, this year, I shall have two devoted sidekicks in my quest to 50,000; Canada and Smoo have decided to join my struggle. The three of us actually participated in NaNoWriMo last year, but some stuff came up and we all kind of fell off the wagon before the deed was done. However, with our devotion to writing recently restored by the swift descent of autumn, we shall again attempt to rise to the challenge. If you want to join our quest, visit nanowrimo.org and sign up. You can friend me! My screen name is MinaInBlue and my user number is 95603. Good luck to all of you writing this year! I'm so excited. I'm going to try and post an excerpt sometime next week of what I will be writing. Glorious!
